The War on Democracy

Unknown year Military & War 619 Views 7 Comments
Award winning journalist John Pilger examines the role of Washington in America's manipulation of Latin American politics during the last 50 years leading up to the struggle by ordinary people to free themselves from poverty and racism. Since the mid 19th Century Latin America has been the 'backyard' of the US, a collection of mostly vassal states whose compliant and often brutal regimes have reinforced the 'invisibility' of their majority peoples. The film reveals similar CIA policies to be continuing in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon. The rise of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez despite ongoing Washington backed efforts to unseat him in spite of his overwhelming mass popularity, is democratic in a way that we have forgotten or abandoned in the west. True Democracy being a solid 80% voter turnout in support of Chavez in over 6 elections.

  • The US version of freedom, (a freedom that stands for the right to use and abuse other people or natural resources to earn more money) is spreading and destroying us all. I feel so sick watching this, and knowing that everywhere people look up to this twisted country where you are a "loser" for not being rich. It goes against everything in human nature to elevate the individual. We are, and always will be, a social animal that thrives in groups. nuf said.

If you want to see more about the chavez coup I strongly recommend The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. link: http://www.documentarywire.com/the-revolution-will-not-be-televised/

  • Great film. If you are appalled by this.. read The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. This book absolutely transformed my perception of America, politics and greed.

One more thing, what you see Pinochet did to Chile, you will see happen in America. Police state/facists!
There is no freedom for a human there.

This is why EVERYONE hates the U.S. There is no secret as to what the U.S means to the world. Money runs the U.S and that's all that matters. American's kill worldwide like Israel in Gaza! Women, children and men. Ruthless murderers. Americans are THE MOST imprisoned people and they don't even know anything about it. SHAME

Earlier I said this was a real "eye-opener" but that's not good enough. The next morning I set it up for my wife to view it and I stood over her shoulder for the second time it 'really hit me'. To simply say I was affected is not enough so let me tell you how and what I mean by 'affected'.

First of all, I never knew such truth and that is what I seek, but to go directly to what the word "affected means" this is my definition: "After viewing this valuable tool of truth, I had to take a shower to wash the tears down my chest into the drain". Sincerely I AM!
