Award winning journalist John Pilger examines the role of Washington in America’s manipulation of Latin American politics during the last 50 years leading up to the struggle by ordinary people to free themselves from poverty and racism. Since the mid 19th Century Latin America has been the ‘backyard’ of the US, a collection of mostly vassal states whose compliant and often brutal regimes have reinforced the ‘invisibility’ of their majority peoples. The film reveals similar CIA policies to be continuing in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon. The rise of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez despite ongoing Washington backed efforts to unseat him in spite of his overwhelming mass popularity, is democratic in a way that we have forgotten or abandoned in the west. True Democracy being a solid 80% voter turnout in support of Chavez in over 6 elections.

What an eye-opener!

Earlier I said this was a real “eye-opener” but that’s not good enough. The next morning I set it up for my wife to view it and I stood over her shoulder for the second time it ‘really hit me’. To simply say I was affected is not enough so let me tell you how and what I mean by ‘affected’.
First of all, I never knew such truth and that is what I seek, but to go directly to what the word “affected means” this is my definition: “After viewing this valuable tool of truth, I had to take a shower to wash the tears down my chest into the drain”. Sincerely I AM!

This is why EVERYONE hates the U.S. There is no secret as to what the U.S means to the world. Money runs the U.S and that’s all that matters. American’s kill worldwide like Israel in Gaza! Women, children and men. Ruthless murderers. Americans are THE MOST imprisoned people and they don’t even know anything about it. SHAME

One more thing, what you see Pinochet did to Chile, you will see happen in America. Police state/facists!
There is no freedom for a human there.

We have had police state/facism in America since the coup d’etat of November 22, 1963. We have become so comfortable with facism that we call it freedom. As long as they keep us entertained, medicated, boozed up, sexed up, and fat, we will let them get away with murder. And so we do.
The American brand of facism is a dictatorial oligarchy by the corporate elite which only sees human beings as either a resource or a liability. As long as they see you as useful you have value, but the moment you are seen as a liability you become expendable. Common people have always been at the mercy of those who are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want and to keep what they’ve got.
I believe the Bible prophecies of Revelation 17 and 18 foretell the soon to be fate of the United States. If you click my name you can read what I believe the prophecy means.

Great film. If you are appalled by this.. read The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. This book absolutely transformed my perception of America, politics and greed.
