Jesus Camp

Jesus Camp follows several young children as they prepare to attend a summer camp where the kids will get their daily dose of evangelical Christianity. Becky Fischer works at the camp, which is named Kids on Fire. Through interviews with Fischer, the children, and others, Jesus Camp illustrates the unswerving belief of the faithful. A housewife and homeschooling mother tells her son that creationism has all the answers. Footage from inside the camp shows young children weeping and wailing as they promise to stop their sinning. Child after child is driven to tears. Juxtapose these scenes with clips from a more moderate Christian radio host (who is appalled by such tactics), and Jesus Camp seems to pose a clear question: are these children being brainwashed?

All the adults in this film who partake in ignorantly brainwashing these innocent kids with hysterical nonsense should be put to death.

for those who read these comments or those who was just watched the movie, then i want you know that what you have just watched is exactly what happens in the Islamic world i know that bse i leaved in it so if you are surprised then believe me if you go to the Islamic part of it will blow you away. let me go deeper than that, if you are Islamic you have to go to the Islamic school everyday to study the Islamic bible, even if you don't understand Arabic language you have to memorize it so this is nothing compared to the Islamic part of it. so in a nut-shell this dosen't surprise me one bit in fact it should be done if you think you are christian just like the moslems do if for there children......... thing again.

I am absolutely disgusted by this film. I watched it all the way through with my jaw on the floor.
It is horrific terrifying that children are indoctrinated and abused in this way.
I completely agree with David's post above and think that religion is a deeply personal and individual thing. Brain-washing and frighteneing impressionable children into adopting a belief system is quite frankly wrong.
I have NO problem with religion and believe passionately that every individual has the right to choose what they believe in and also to practice said belief systems, as long as they are'nt forcing it onto others.
To hear someone who is supposedly a "pastor" refer to other religionas as "QUOTE: Our enemies" is disgusting..
I have no doubt that these people believe what they are doing is right, but educated your children in all aspects of the world and then let them decide for themselves when they are old enough to understand.....
I find it abhorrent to take impressionable young minds and use fear and opression to mould them into adult belief systems. The children in this film quite clearly have no thoughts of their own and simply regurgitate the same phrases used by the adults.
I have been left deeply saddened by this film..........

As a Christian I avoided watching this doc for some time. But I so wish that anyone watching this would realize there is a good reason Christians advocate, supposedly, separation of church and state.
Truly, life is an info war, and documentaries about slavery and media show us that we in developed countries are largely hypocrites in so many ways. Altho multitudes are ‘against’ abortion, they are defacto pro killing, starving, torturing all over the world. We will buy products made by children held all their lives at gunpoint with no wage, in order to get goods cheap. Gov’t’s and banks in cahoots taking over entire countries and populations to establish military bases. As Horton said, “ A person’s a person no matter how small “ --or far away, and we refuse to become educated.
Looking at these kids’ faces and attitudes towards grownups, I cannot see a trace of shame, lack of confidence or inability to speak up for themselves. As far as brainwashing, we are all only as good as what we know. I suspect, if this Camp was beside a Gaza Camp, and these kids knew more in general about what has been done to humanity in the name of their country or freedom, I am certain they would be horrified as we all are when we learn about oppression that spits in the face of true equality and reverence for life. The adults in the film are simply ingrown in their culture of superiority are maybe too far gone to reach. But that ain't limited to mid west Christians.
As these kids grow up, they are more than likely to learn not just black and white but shades of gray, but only if they are exposed to true information and not spin.

It just seems awesome to me how people can think that they have to be democrats in some way or another. That lady is just using psychology to get people and by saying people I mean kids! A kid isn't into the right position to choose a religion until he/she is 16-. Why? Because a simple reason. A kid can get involved and brain washed real quick. And More if their parents are into that crap!!
I could bet anything that Jesus wouldn't like that, He never choose any political party nor he exploded the mind or the innocence of kids, he taught them LOVE and thats the only thing he always preached, LOVE, LOVE, and LOVE. He never said that they were not going to be saved if they made their own choices. GOD gave us a free will, and it depends on us to use it and how to use it HE WILL LOVE US THE WAY WE ARE BECAUSE WE ARE HIS CHILDREN

I think the real Jesus would absolutely hate Jesus Camp. I know I do. Isn't this considered child abuse? What kind of warped society would not view this as emotional abuse? This kind of stuff makes the real God sick. If you do not come to the truth on your own, then it isn't the truth. Belief is not truth.
On a side note, the lady at the beginning talking about fat and lazy, is the biggest oxymoron I've ever seen. I think she needs to fast for a few more days. JC can also stand for Jenny Craig lady.
    Thanks for sharing!
