And Man Created Dog

The wolf, the original ancestor of our dogs. More than fifteen thousand years of human tinkering, first by accident then later by design, has created one of the most varied looking species on Earth.

From the start we have shaped dogs to help make our lives easier. This is the story of how wolves and humans forged a bond that changed them, us, and the world forever.

If humans were as varied as dogs we would range in height up to 22 feet tall and in weight more than 1,000 pounds! In the ultimate canine ancestral story, And Man Created Dog, traces the genetic journey from wolf to dog, taking you back 100,000 years to meet the "mother of all dogs."

It's no accident that dogs evolved this way, as humans we have been selectively breeding them for around 14,000 years to serve our needs as labourer, companion, hunter, herder and warrior, as well as to suit our aesthetic fancy.

They're not just your best friends, but likely your oldest.

I wonder if todays Wolf is still genetically like their ancestors?

@Voluntero good question but I am not sure. From the documentaries I have watched the wolves seem to be really friendly to humans - were they always like that?
